If you are looking for something to do with your kiddos in Las Vegas this weekend, and you are a big, huge fan of Disney, then I highly recommend seeing the Disney On Ice Celebrates 100 Years.
Sometimes, the best part about these shows is the yummy snacks! Love it all…popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy. Ah, but since I’m a participant in the Strength Center Re-Invent Yourself Challenge, I only allowed myself a bite (or 2!) of cotton candy. This time, though, I digress. The show was good. Two hours (yes, 2 hours) worth of Disney epic classics~ Princesses, Nemo, Toy Story, even the Incredibles all came out to show the Vegas crowd a good time. I was thoroughly entertained the entire time…between the costumes, lights, sets, fireworks and effects, my eyes were glued on the stage. Not to mention, you sing~a~long to every song!
The kids? Oh, right, the kids…yes, they loved it, too! They were even exposed to some classics that I had to wonder if they had even seen, like Pinocchio and the OG Princess, Snow White. When Jiminy Cricket popped up on the stage, my daughter asked, “Who’s that?”. What?!? Who doesn’t know Jiminy Cricket and his little whistle? Apparently my 8 and 6 year old, but it was OK…they enjoyed the stories and the performances. My son, who is usually done about halfway through most shows, actually sat in his seat the whole time, with his gazed fixated on the stage.
It appeared to be a sold out event at the Thomas and Mack Center. The crowds singing and clapping and dancing to the music. I heard the adults saying afterwards what a great show it was. And, true to Vegas form, the crowd went wild when the Lion King took the stage. Proud, community supporters! My daughter asked me when we were walking to the parking lot what my favorite part of the show was. I replied, “I’m not sure I could pick, I liked the whole show. What about you?”. I knew her answer before she said it, “Belle.” Always is. Then she said, “Remember when we saw Beauty and the Beast in 3D and the voice of Belle sat behind us?”. Yes, I will never forget that moment. “That was awesome.” Yes, yes it was. {holding back tears}
